A pair of Townshend Glastonbury MKII speakers

These speakers used to belong to my late uncle and were used quite regularly over the years.

From what I have read on the internet these speakers are legends from the 1980s.

I have not heard them playing, so I cannot comment on what they sound like.

Before he passed away my uncle told my mum that something was not working correctly with them, but my mum cannot remember what. The price of the speakers reflects this at £400 and these are definitely a buyer collects as they weigh 40kg each!

Unless anyone is very local I imagine they would want to know more about the problem before venturing forth to purchase these.

not to much to go wrong with them
they did have a form of protection and eq circuit built into the xover that could get over zealous from time to time....would give a loud clicking...like a relay switching....which is what it was
baring knackered drivers not much else to fail.....great speaker,good price to,subject to fault i guess

Fantastic speakers, I have a bastadised pair gathering dust in my kitchen to my other halfs dispare and a pair of Mk1s that used to belong to Smithy in my shed. Ive got the xovers somewhere and spare tweeters, as smithy says there is an IC in the xover, Max didnt do anything simple. If the rubber surround is intact I would remove the drivers and check the foam suspension, if thats intact then your laughing. These are something very special, I wouldnt hesitate to buy them if I didnt already have 2 pairs, they were about £1700 when new. As Lawrence says I would hook them up and have a play, give out a bit more info, you might even want to keep them!

The problem with testing them is that I live up in Scotland and the speakers are down with my mum in Devon.

The price reflects the fact that there is a risk associated with buying them
