    Default Arse About Face System.

I'm obviously at a loose end here, with my thoughts meandering a bit. It crossed my mind that a very alternative system could be put together choosing main components from manufacturers renowned for something completely different.

Maybe a combination of Shure Ultra 6000 CD player feeding a Tannoy SR840 power amp via a passive pre-amp and driving a pair of Krell Resolution 3 speakers.

Daft maybe. But who knows? It could work!

    Anybody else got suggestions?

How about a Nakamichi CD4, Lowther L18 amplifier and Musical Fidelity MC2 speakers?

Funny you should mention the Lowther Martin. I considered that before bunging the Tannoy into the equation.

I'm cheating a bit cause you would need a pre amp. Hard to think of amps, especially.

I think you've missed the point a bit Shane.

That Tannoy amp looks rather beefy. That's a big wad of copper in the middle.

That Tannoy looks like a Tresham Audio (pre NVA design).

I'm fairly sure Tannoy were in partnership with somebody for this amp. Tresham seems to ring a bell.
