    Default another newbie here

    Morning all....
After lurking here for a while, thought it was time to properly join in.
One of the other forums I use has gone a bit quiet lately & I thought there may be some fresh perspectives here.
Always been a vinyl first user, although my Mac/DAC also works well for me.
System consists of a fair few of those warm/glowy things. They sound great but not really clued up on how they work!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Hi Matthew. Welcome to AOS.

Tell us what music you listen to and what equipment you have in your system.

Warm/glowy things are exactly what they are called. Valves. Basically, electricity in one end and out of the other, with a tap in the middle called the grid controlling the flow!

There's plenty going on here, so join in the chat on any topic that interests you.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.

Thanks for the warm welcome! Nice.
Currently listening to The Fountains of Wayne, but along with the power pop stuff, I also like a lot of Jazz. Recently enjoying some of the Scandanavian stuff eg EST.
Can't get into rap or similar ilk. Opera likewise I struggle with. Other than that, hey, I'll give it a go.
Equipment is a Michell Orbe/Ekos/Akiva into an Audio Research PH5, Graaf gm50 ( which I just love & rate extremely highly) & Focal 1028be's.
The 0's & 1's are taken care of by a MacMini & modified Jolida mkIII DAC.
The red wine usually comes from Spain or South Africa.
Right..... Time to delve into the meat of this forum!!
