I suppose its a form of insanity but a beautiful one. Pity all that gear is likely to get little if any play time

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

It's the record collection that arouses my envy. I'd love to go there for a holiday and just explore all those LPs. Might be a long visit, though Putting aside his music collection already in the 7 storey facility, that 200, 000 LP collection he just bought would take over 15 years to hear ... assuming 24 hour a day listening and quick change--overs

Time to get my CV up to date and get applying to Mr Li I think.
It occurs to me he might be a silent guest on our forum. I feel your wonderful museum of high fidelity needs more than one curator Mr Li. Let me volunteer my services for a small fee and a couple of hours listening a day.

Not to rain on anyone's parade but the article dates from 2008, that's a long time in anyone's life, changes happen. It would be an awful shame if that was all gone, and Mr Li passed.

I suspect that Mr Li is still hoarding away like a hi-fi squirrel. Money like that buys a lot of healthcare and he doesn't appear to be under any strain in those pictures. Fingers crossed anyway.
