    Anto

I wanted the marble version for mainly looks. But with it been out of stock ended up with Bamboo. I did not for one minute think I would get the result I got. Cheap and cheerful.

    Mick,

I've tried Marble under my 1210 before and it wrecked the soundstage, I'd counsel against wasting your money.

Do you think the wood acts as a damper , with it being organic ??
Whereas the marble is not ?

I have some thick slate and a Stihl saw

Surely its about low mass and low resonance. Tap a bamboo object and do don't get the normal ringing you do with other woods.

The best turntable support I ever had was a self-built frame with relative thin wooden posts but with lots of cross bracing. Everything was screwed and glued and braced. The support had threaded spikes on the bottom and the top and the top shelf only made contact with the spike tips. In fact, I glued old half penny coins to the bottom of the shelf and then made a small indent with a punch so that the spikes were firmly seated. The difference between this stand and the table it was on previously was immense. Better transients, greater detail and dynamics, and, most of all, an increase in presence and mid band solidity.

It would be interesting to try out the deisgn again to see if I could repeat the performance.
