Who Likes Aircraft?

The Mosquito was a real beauty . I very often used to see the one from RAF Hawarden in North Wales come to Whixall Moss by us ,and spent 15 mins or so doing acrobatics . She was the one that crashed a few yrs later (cant remember her serial)
Truthfully ,it was almost as good as sex , watching her roll and dive , and a thing I will never forget !

I saw that Mosquito at the North Weald 'Fighter Meet' over twenty years ago. Sounded like a cross between a Lancaster and Spitfire (naturally enough ). Lovely plane!


I also saw the Grumman Tiger Cat there and it was even more spectacular for a twin prop piston job. Amazingly powerful and acrobatic. Later generation of plane though.

The Skyrocket was a similar but older concept. The Tigercat has nearly twice the power.

The nose & cockpit of the Skyrocket (never heard of this one before) is quite reminiscent of the Bristol Beaufighter.
It doesn't look very aero-dynamic, but an interesting design.

Ridiculous! It will crash. Torsional effects from the mass of the two fuselages will tear the central wing apart. It's the only thing holding them together.
