Very nice too. I remember as a kid having a double treat if we had a day out to Blackpool (or that NW coast) as my Dad always drove from W Yorkshire towards Preston and went past the EE factory (which I think) was at Wharton. There always seemed to be Lightenings & Canberras lined up parallel to the road near the hangers.
Come to think of it, I preferred seeing them to the rest of the day at the coast !

In the mid 70s I was in the ATC and spent a summer camp at RAF Wyton, so it was Canberras all week. Especially remember the weird looking ones flown by the ECM Squadron/development team.

What great times to have lived.

Truthfully ,it was almost as good as sex , watching her roll and dive , and a thing I will never forget !
I saw that Mosquito at the North Weald 'Fighter Meet' over twenty years ago. Sounded like a cross between a Lancaster and Spitfire (naturally enough ). Lovely plane!

I also saw the Grumman Tiger Cat there and it was even more spectacular for a twin prop piston job. Amazingly powerful and acrobatic. Later generation of plane though.

One here. Incredible plane. And the speed and sound................ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1uTPNsA9mg

There are Lightning and Canberra gate guardians at Warton and Samlesbury, so you can still see them.

Life is too short to worry about the opinion of others.

The Skyrocket was a similar but older concept. The Tigercat has nearly twice the power.

The nose & cockpit of the Skyrocket (never heard of this one before) is quite reminiscent of the Bristol Beaufighter.
It doesn't look very aero-dynamic, but an interesting design.

Ridiculous! It will crash. Torsional effects from the mass of the two fuselages will tear the central wing apart. It's the only thing holding them together.
