Project surprise
A friend asked me to look out for a budget turntable for him as his current one beside being nasty was expiring. Budget was set to £200 but less spent the better, had to be black and in great condition. After a fair bit of hunting the usual places I came across a Pro-ject Debut 3, as new condition with all original bits and pieces and packing for £130. The cartridge was AWOL but thanks to Jerry an AT95e was sourced for £15.
It's all set up, dead easy as not much to set up, and I can only describe the result as astonishing, if a budget turntable costing only £145 all in can sound this good then things have really moved on. Obviously it has it's limitations but it retrieves so much information from the records it would definitely embarrass decks costing hundreds of pounds.
To sum up anyone looking for a budget turntable it's well worth hunting one of theses out.
