The Kaufhof Galeria in Alexanderplatz, Berlin, is a stunningly large department store. Their cheese selection had Ruth and I staring with our tongues hanging out. It was the largest display of cheeses I have ever seen, so many types that I didn't recognise at all but incredible numbers of French and British cheeses, too.

Compare with the average American supermarket that will offer Canadian Cheddar and two kinds of Monterey Jack. Ugh!

I'm embarassed to say I'm from Wisconsin and don't have a clue about cheese - but, I'm from Wisconsin and don't have a clue about cheese. I've sampled some that I was TOLD was good, but didn't get it. The best I've had this summer is a german cheese called butterkase (not sure of spelling). It's kind of a more buttery Swiss cheese. After reading earlier comments, I've gotta try and find some Wnsleydale. I'd say Swiss and a good medium cheddar are my favorites, that and Monterey Jack melted w/ Mexican fare.

    Big fan of Lancashire cheese.
Visited the cheese place at Cheddar last year with girlfriend. One of those touristy things were they show you how it's made. Then you can taste lots of different Cheddars afterwards. The cave aged stuff was rather pleasant.
Can't be doin' with any of that moldy stuff. Eeuuww!!

One of my favourite cheeses is Wedneslydale and I know it's a bit boring, but I love the taste.

Ah, Booths - why is there so bloody few of them around the country???

All the decent supermarkets, such as Booths and Waitrose are nowhere to be found near us, but there's plenty of 'fodder for the masses', with bloody Asdas and Tescos everywhere.

    It's not fair!!

    Mmm cheese.

I like most types, but of the more exotic ones, a favourite is Paški sir - a Croatian cheese. Goes well with the Dalmatian ham (pršut). Hard to get in the UK - last place I managed to buy some was Cheese Hamlet in Didsbury, south Manchester.

I go to the Booths in Clitheroe now and then. Proper supermarket. Best Xmas puddings as well to go slightly off topic.
