Default Getting to a certain age!! BEER

    Yes.
Not that I mind getting to that milestone ,that says you not far from drawing your state pension (although that's a moving goalpost ,ha) but its the other bits that come with it!!

I recently had awful feet trouble , thought I had flat feet but struggled to walk anywhere for 3 months

I do a fair amount of physical work each and every day , so not ideal!

To fast forward , it is a form of gout that makes my toes tingle ,then get hot , although I am not a classic gout sort of man , but its in the end of my fingers and toes!!

And what sets it off ???? BEER !!!!!

Every time I have a half (and that's all it takes ,off goes the tingle burn ,pain !! )

So yrs of propping up Marstons and Bass , and glugging as much real ale as I can safely sample , I am now on cider.

At least that does not have the same effect ! Its the brewers yeast I believe ,although I cant be sure.

Anyroad , lots of mega dose Vit C , cider vinegar ,once a day , and its kept away , but bugger , if it isn't a pain getting older
I only ride 'em, I don't know what makes 'em work

Oh my god! There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Not glad you've got the problem Anto, but cheers for bringing it up.

I'll watch out for any similar symptoms, as I rather like my beer and have suffered from gout in the past, though a long time back now.

Thanks for the comments men !!

Its an odd thing but aches and pain wise , I am not far off free from any now ,which leads me to think I have had the problem for quite some time ,but its only come out as arthritis in the last 6 months (because that's what gout really is ,apparently ,a form of arthritis!)

Anyway ,at least I might keep a bit more weight off , as I have always been too heavy.

And I might have to think about moving to Normandy ,because cidre is much nicer than some of the stuff sold as cider here !

Gout is, indeed, a form of Arthritis and even kids can get it according to my GP. I would imagine that some foods and drinks will aggravate it but the list of foods not to eat or drink is very, very long, making life not worth living. IMO.

I have/had Gout and in my case is caused by Kidney problems but at the moment it is under control by taking Allopurinol every day.

I'm not a great drinker, which is a shame as there are a huge number of pubs within striking distance, all with a selection of real beers. The past year I have developed a taste for dry cider, which I find very refreshing and apparently is quite good for you.

ou might slip, you might slide, you might
Stumble and fall by the road side
But don't you ever let nobody drag your spirit down
Remember you're walking up to heaven

Don't let nobody turn you around

Learn from everyone, that's what life is for

Oddball drop your purine levels, review your foods and see which are purine rich. Additionally gout is a crystalline athropathy which means it deposits crystal in the joint space, they don't go anywhere and destroy your cartilage. So a review for a Uris acid blocker at your local GP might be in order. I see patients like you daily.

If you mean that you would rather drink beer and have Gout, then I would suggest that you wouldn't. Gout is very, very painful and not just a twinge in your big toe..

There was a bloke on The One Show last night who was extolling the benefits of walking for the general benefit of your health. I suffer from a mental health condition and have exercised regularly all my life. As I get older I have osteoarthritis in my knees and hands/wrists, and a back condition (lipping of some vertebrae) but this does not affect cycling that I took up about 30 years ago. With Xmas and New Year and the current cold snap I have not been out much, but felt that if I didn't bite the bullet today I might have exploded! The media will have us believe that there is a vast majority of the population take no regular exercise at all. I would guess that if that is right that this may be why there is a vast increase in Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity.

Interesting article that popped up as I made a speculative Google on "exercise as a cure for all ills" with exactly those words.
