I am more than a little sceptical about this. Whilst I can understand the effects of long (0.5m >) cables, having a dedicated spur for each component etc, I fail to see how one 10mm length of fine wire can have any impact on sound compared to another 10mm bit of wire.

    Hmmm...

As you know Gaz I also use a BPS, which I leave on permenantly unless I go away for a few days. I went away recently, when I returned I turned on my BPS then immediately my Class A amp the internal fuses blew in the amp, that's six fuses. However, I have not had this problem before or since.
Glad to found a good upgrade, take care of that fuse that is designed to burn (blow)
Source: Heavily modified DDDAC using MacBook Pro.
Amplification: Pre amp-Stereo Coffee pre amp on steroids.
Power amp- Rather large Colin Wonfor Class A power Amp
    Speakers: Lampizator P17 Open Baffles
Accessories: Klotz 500 DIY Interconnects & DIY speaker cable sounding better than anything commercial.
All powered from a Mother Trucker BPS with a dedicated consumer unit with 10mm armoured radial back to the house tails after the meter.

    Gaz, would you indulge me?

As you are technical and know what you are doing I propose a little experiment.
Would you care to remove the fuse, solder a thick length of copper wire to the outside of the fuse clips and see if there is any difference to the sound.

Before anyone jumps on me to say this is risky, yes I know, but for the short time this will take the risk is minimal.
The pcb tracks only look to be rated at about 2A anyway

    Over to you .....

Know that the fuse element is made from graphene, which has different electrical conductivity than normal metal in fuses?
    Could that make a difference?

As always with me, its down to what I hear and this was a significant jump. more than any cable change as I said.
Just putting it out there, works for me.

    Crikey...thats bad!
    Glad its not happened again.
What might have been the cause of that, isn't the BPS regulated for inrush current?

Love to indulge you Alan, but the Transporters my only digital source and wouldn't want anything to go ka-ka!
I would expect a difference though?
All but my power amp is hard wired from the Balanced mains and I know how true "the best fuse is no fuse" is.
(All equipment internally fused and protected of course.)

    Sorry mate!

Do you need better mains cables to see the benefit?
I am thinking that if I were to try one, the pre amp would be the place I would think it would have the most benefit.

Where did you get the fuse from, as the 30 day return would be most useful.

Not sure to be honest, best way is to listen to one in your system probably.

    Got mine here:

Ordering another for my Preamp myself later today.
