Thread: The North West Audio Show (Cranage Hall) 2017

    Just one point, though... I think it's worth remembering that Cranage is the only show I know of that has FREE ENTRY and parking. Normally, you're looking at £15-20 to get into a hi-fi show, with sometimes parking on top of that (if it's in a city centre venue) - and then the food and drink inside STILL costs a fortune!!

    So that should be taken into consideration when assessing the VFM of the Cranage Hall 'package', where they're clearing making the event commercially viable, by profiting from food and drink sales. That's fine in my book

    Turntable: Heavily-modified Technics SL-1210MK5G [Mike New bearing/ETP platter/Paul Hynes SR7 PSU & reg mods]. Funk Firm APM Achromat/Nagaoka GL-601 Crystal Record Weight/Isonoe feet & boots/Ortofon RS-212D/Denon DL-103GL in Denon PCL-300 headshell with Funk Firm Houdini/Kondo SL-115 pure-silver cartridge leads.

    CD Player: Audiocom-modified Sony X-777ES/DAS-R1 DAC.

    Tape Deck: Tandberg TCD 310, fully restored and recalibrated as new, by RDE, plus upgraded with heads from the TCD-420a. Also with matching TM4 Norway microphones.

    Preamps: Heavily-modified Croft Charisma-X. LDR Stereo Coffee. Power Amps: Tube Distinctions Copper Amp fitted with Tungsol KT-150s. Quad 306.

    Cables & Sundries: Mark Grant HDX1 interconnects and digital coaxial cable, plus Mark Grant 6mm UP-LCOFC Van Damme speaker cable. MCRU 'Ultimate' mains leads. Lehmann clone headphone amp with vintage Koss PRO-4AAA headphones.

    Tube Distinctions digital noise filter. VPI HW16.5 record cleaning machine.

    Speakers: Tannoy 15MGs in Lockwood cabinets with modified crossovers. 1967 Celestion Ditton 15.

    Me and Mrs. Pony have booked online for this year's show, looking forward to it.

    Something occurred to me recently-It seems a shame that you could be standing next to someone you've enjoyed forum banter all year, and not know them from Adam.
