Well, within the next week or so I will be on the job hunt again. About to be made redundant, I really thought this was my retirment job, but not to be.
I have a few leads to follow up on,
* one is a bit of a career change. I will get an interview very shortly with a company that provides specialist training to the Electrical industry. This position has really peeked my interest.
* I will also get an interview with a company I have previously worked for (an enjoyed immensly) which would be back in to Semiconductor manufacturing
* A possibility of an interview which would mean commuting on a weekly basis (job is continental shifts 4on/4off) another Semiconductor manufacturing position.
I may get the chance to stay on where I am and help de-commission for an initial 2 months or so, with the posibility of a further 3 months after that.
The site currently has 2of 132kV commissioned connections to the grid. Which take 4 years to plan and execute to commission. But in the back of my mind is the nagging thought that a company will find that interesting and do something with the site. Would be good to stay on and see what is done with the site, but don't wish to get left behind in a dead job.
One of the main problems is that of timing, I will be entitled to some redundancy but getting things sorted to happen at the right moment could be a bit of a balancing act.
I am not too bothered about a bit of time without a job, but I enjoy the work I do and wish to continue as long as I am able. I would enjoy passing on some of the experience and knowledge I have gained to others too.
Will let you know how things plan out, but thanks for reading and for letting me put this down in writing a bit of a cathartic exercise and clearing my mind.
