    Yes 2 to 5, maybe 6 pin available, various companies make them, they are used as microphone plugs and on things like soldering stations. I used them between my external power supply and Technics TT (From Maplins)

    One point to note, the fewer the pins in the connector, the larger diameter the pins/recepticals and therefore the larger their current carrying capacity, so check that the spec for the ones you intend using meets your amperage requirement. Two pin carry the most current so 2x2pin is better than 1x4pin for current capacity etc.

    Thanks for all your help
    I've now identified the socket, just one last question please.
    If I buy a 12v power supply does it matter if it's over specified on power/current. Will my buffer just draw the power it needs and not be given too much power by a bigger PSU?

    Nope, bigger is ok. As long as carrier voltage is right, the unit will only give whats asked of it

    Great looks like I'm sorted the best value decent 12v supply I have found is this unless anyone knows anything better for c. 20?
