That's really interesting. I would be interested in this - perhaps another thread. I have had some problems in the last few years, not always long lasting, and perhaps sometimes due to wax. Travel on planes really causes odd effects - sometimes it improves my hearing for a while, sometimes it totally screws things up. Over Christmas I really thought I might have gone deaf in one ear, but things have recovered now mostly.

I don't know if what I have is tinnitus, but sometimes I'm aware of some strange sensations. If I ignore them, then often they go away, and I can listen to music OK - but not always. I didn't know drugs could affect one's hearing.

The deafness is most likely eustacian tube dysfunction - I have this but have it under control and it isn't a problem anymore.

You need to check whatever meds you are on, even asprin can and often does cause tinnitus. Likewise excess sugar! I've been researching this for almost a year after my so called specialist said I would just have to live with it and it would never go away - she was wrong - it has gone away completely on occasions - which tells you it isn't permanent or caused by hearing loss or damage but a 'trigger'.

I know mine - its a certain med I've been taking. I stopped the meds and hey presto, 24 hours later zero tinnitus. But you have to be careful and can't just stop heart meds etc - but you can change them!

    Yes, maybe another thread...

I was offered keyhole robotic surgery or radiotherapy. I opted for the latter which means hormone therapy for 4 months. Tablets for 4 weeks with an injection after 2 weeks and thence 3-monthly afterthat for 2 years. I had 3 rough weeks after the first jab but feel good ATM. RT March time.

I suspect we need a medical thread. I've not been diagnosed with prostrate problems yet, but maybe I've got some if the number of times I have to get up in the night is an indication.

What's the problem with the keyhole robots?

Good luck indeed to anyone here who has ear or other problems.

Robotic keyhole surgery was a fully viable option for my diagnosis as was the hormone/radiotherapy, it was 50:50 which to choose, just didn't fancy surgery but if prostate has gone then no more prostate cancer which RT cannot necessarily do. I may have made wrong choice but I'll live with it, well that's the plan....meanwhile, more music listening !!
