I've owned modern and vintage.
The modern was an Inspire Quest TT which was fantastic. Seriously good. I've had a Sony PS-x70 which again was out of this world but it had a fault and I couldn't find anyone who could fix it at the time.
They were my two best tables until I listened to Walpurgis.
Listen to Walpurgis. I did and the Toshiba/mission combo is hard to beat.
If you don't fancy a Toshy or can't get one, I'd still go vintage. More for your money and the technology of reproducing music in analogue form hasn't changed since the golden days of Turntables so why not buy something that was made during the same era when Turntables were king.

Thats the one. Lovely bit of engineering it is too. DD with a pod platter. Dont come up often, lthough one sold on ebay minus an arm for £300 recently.. they take any sme fit arm i think. Mine has machine threads in slate for the arm making it very tidy.

Neither vintage or modern, I've always liked the Nottingham Analogue range. Great-sounding, simple and well-engineered, there's not a lot to go wrong with a used example.
