A lot of it, is to do with how you speak. So, in other words, your dialect. Followed by your background. family, education etc.
Me, I consider myself to be working-class. Well, my dialect is certainly not neutral/pure sounding. Some people do find me, just a tad soft spoken with a hint of Irish. The latter I picked up from my father.
Always lived in residential areas, that are fairly quiet, with also easy walking distance to local shops.
My father, is a registered mental health nurse. My mother, who is now retired was a psychiatric nurse. Plenty nursing runs in the family.
