Thumbs down Sat-Nav idiocy.... Blindly 'obeying' the machine.

Another pertinent example of technology 'controlling' us: just go where the machine tells you to go, regardless of common sense or road warning signs:

    Brain-dead idiots!!!

Hope they royally fine the driver's ass, and make him/her pay for all the damage.....

It's bad enough blindly following the directions of a Satnav . It's another , though , actually hitting something . This is a house , did the driver have his eyes closed too . Surely he could tell by simply looking that his vehicle wouldn't fit in that space

Typical melodramatic headline from the media, why do they have to exaggerate everything?

    It was hardly a crash.

Next we'll read about people 'plummeting' to a broken ankle in a pothole

For a while we got lots of trucks coming down our street, only to have to reverse all way back again to get out which in its self was incredibly dangerous with parked cars and kids around. Seems to have stopped now, so can only imagine it was a sat nav error.

Driver on his on his own in unfamiliar part of the world, under deadline pressure, you don't want him reading a map while driving so sat nav is the only option. This seems to have happened multiple times in the same place, simple solution to ban HGV from the route. Local council have not done this probably because it would mean someone there having to do a little work instead of sitting around all day shooting the breeze before going home at three-thirty.

Lunacy.... I bet they'd still drive blindly down a road, even if faced with a HUGE sign that read: "Road ahead ends in 200 yards, due to cliff with sheer drop", if the sat-nav said it was ok to proceed!!

I tell you, between sat-navs and 'mobile phones', today's technology is creating breeds of mindless zombies......

Yes, but does that prevent him or her from using their *EYES*, brains and common sense? I think not!

What I am guessing is that by the time he realises the route is too narrow he is already too far down it to reverse out. So no option but to try and get through.

I used to work for a home delivery company (big tellys, cookers and fridges, mainly) and it was quite often that the delivery was to some cottage at the end of a tiny lane. No way to get the lorry down so driver would abort the delivery. You'd then get the punter on the 'phone kicking off because they want their new range cooker and they want it now. Said punter having ignored the warnings given when ordering regarding access for the delivery vehicle.
