Default Black Open Cell Foam for TL port Mouths?

The stuff in the back of my PMCs is way shot, and I've recently been tweaking with a pair of Castle Chesters, which have (had) the same stuff in the port mouth (which was also on it's way out), just starts crumbling to dust.

Black, open cell and prone to decomposition - and seemingly commonly used by TL speaker makers.

Does anyone one where to get fresh supplies?

Look on ebay for industrial filters.

You may need larger, but it's this sort of thing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-Carbon-...3D291709689561

The stuff was called 'Declon' and was first popularised for speakers by JBL I believe, who made the front grilles for the L100 Century model from it around 1970.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Thanks all,

The sump foam is the one that looks closest to the original (which is handy as it's cheaper than anything designated 'studio' or 'acoustic' ;-))

Given the erm.. biodegrable nature of the oem Airfilter foam material.
Possibly might consider an alternate material fitment?

Thanks danilo, that's not the right stuff for this purpose, I probably would use it for pipe tuning / box stuffing but the stuff I'm after is really just there to stop children and animals having access to the pipe.

    Default Reticulated Foam

The actual foam material you need is called RETICULATED FOAM. It likely comes under several Trade Names.
