    Default Macbook spinning wheel

When doing anything with Hotmail on my Macbook, I get the dreaded multi coloured spinning wheel. It happens mainly when I attempt to open or download attachments like invoices, price lists and suchlike. Doesn't happen with anything other than Hotmail.

When it occurs, I have to keep refreshing the page and eventually I can do the task but it is very annoying and time consuming. Started out of the blue around 3 weeks ago.

Any suggestions but please remember that I am a complete computer numpty.

Changing to iCloud would be a good move. I realise that a change of address has its problems but iCloud is 100% reliable. Given that Hotmail is a Microsoft thing, maybe it's the old animosity coming out

You've dumped Windoze, why not go the whole hog? With iCloud, being a cloud sceptic, I keep all my mail locally and don't let Apple keep it 'safe' for me. That's why I have a back up disk.

How to fix it as it is.... not a clue!!

There were reports of some mail servers being down today. Yours may be one

I can't swap to another e-mail as hotmail is my business address.

It has been the past 3 weeks or so and not just today. Hotmail is performing OK on my Windows laptop and also my Wife's Macbook and 2 x i-pads. Just my Macbook giving grief.

I have no idea what RAM is but as I only use the Macbook for a bit of forum posting and e-mailing, I doubt anything is full. My Wife's Macbook is in use constantly, playing films, BBC i-player, e-mails, pics etc, etc but her one does Hotmail without a hitch.

    Hi Dave,

Try running this program (just click on the link) and delete all websites that appear (which will be slowing things up), and then see if that cures your problem: http://www.macromedia.com/support/do...07.html#117717

    Hi Dave,
Have you tried to retreive your mails from the hotmail / webmail page (http://www.hotmail.com) ? If the attachment downloads from there work then at least you know it is not the hotmail account per se.

Note hotmail has been discontinued by MS$ see this article here from 2013 which also has instructions on how to set up a hotmail IMAP (versus POP) account for theApple mail app. It still seems to work though.

    Hope this helps.
