Default Technics 4 channel receiver skip save

Bigman80 of this parish delivered this to me as my reputation of a hoarder () seems to be spreading. A mate was going to bin it

It is a Technics SA-5400X 4 channel/2 channel receiver from 1974. Very retro look which I like, remarkably every illumination bulb still lights.

Not quite in a good operating state, only one of the 4 channels worked.
The fault list included a blown output fuse, two wonky fuse holders, failed power amp input transistors and a missing knob.

    Here are the innards:

    No surface mount here mate.

Now fixed working on radio, one channel of the phono is suspect but I think that is probably dirty switchgear. Sounds really good
I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

Dunno. I'll ask Audio Al for an opinion.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Maybe it's the christian name!! My brother is an Alan too. Electronic design engineer, collects old bits and bobs that will come in useful one of these days. The main difference is that he never gets round to fixing them!
