How about a pair of EPOS ES11? well within your budget. You can wall mount them at a pinch.

How about enjoying what you have for a while?

Then you get properly used to the sound and don't make instant judgements about spending some more dosh, you only just changed the speakers after all. If you want to change the cartridge, buy the Technics EPC205 that is for sale on this forum. Then you will know you don't need to upgrade that in future and concentrate on the speakers.
