    The original caps are not electrolytics! They look more like paper in oil motor start caps to me... May well still be fine.
    As to the speakers themselves.. I'll be polite and call them "an acquired taste"

    That's quite possible Jez. However, I have refurbished several such sets to date and not one set was anywhere close to spec. That's the trouble with using any caps containing volatiles...they all seem to dry out over time, even when used in relatively low voltage applications where heat isn't a real issue. POI's just aren't necessary for this application.

    this thread reminds me i really must get my arse into gear and recap my ditton 66's.
    i may try some mundorf caps instead of alcaps if size/spec permits.
