    Default LS3 5A woofer(s) buggered

To my dismay i have found that there is excessive distortion from at least one of my speakers.
Its the woofer / mid bass
These are quite old 15 ohm Rogers Ls3 5A s.

Shld i get a pair of new units from Falcon and pop them in.
Whilst i am at it is there anything i shld do re X over components etc ?
    Thanking you all

Is the distortion due to voice coil rubbing? Have you centred your fingers around the cones and gently pushed them in and out? If you hear a rubbing noise then that is your answer, often cured by turning the units upside down to counter the effects of gravity.

Or use my hairdryer trick to re-centre the rear spider. It works on KEF drivers, I've tried it.

The 'gritty' feel is the coil binding in the magnet gap.

Usually this is due to a misalignment, although occasionally it can be caused by the lacquer on the coil having overheated and bubbled.

If it is just misaligned, you can probably cure it.

If buggered what is the opinion on the new falcon units vs the original b110s?

Falcon would no doubt be the best folk to ask. They have a reputation for giving decent advice.
