Default td 160 & jelco sa 750d tonearm cable advice

    Hi

As per the title i'm looking to purchase a cable for 750d which i purchased from Hugo at Ammonite acoustics
earlier in the year(he also supplied one of his custom collars for free,)

Now the question concerns the suspension, Does any one have any experience of this combo re whether i
would i have to get a right angled din so as to give enough room for the suspension, or would a straight din be suitable?

Also is there any other cable manufacturers that use Jelco's back to front din fitting?

    Cheers
    Nick.

There should be plenty of clearance underneath the armboard for a straight connector - you just need to ensure that the cable itself is long enough to allow you to dress it carefully while still reaching the amplifier. I suspect that it's actually easier to dress a cable with a straight connector, compared to a right angle one.

I would avoid Jelco's pink cable, which I find to be very dull sounding. Cables using Van Damme Pro Patch wire are difficult to beat for the money - Timestep's RCA-SME cable at £50 is unbeatable, but maybe a little short at 1.1m. Yannis Tome offers a similar thing. The Black Rhodium Stylus that I sell has notably low capacitance which is a Good Thing with MM cartridges and sounds significantly better than a Van Damme based cable, albeit at a higher price.

    Thanks for your reply

Have taken your advice and just purchased the Timestep cable, looks a steal at the price.

    Cheers
