My comments may be of little use as I cannot judge how it really sounds. So my comments are only based on my experience.
It is certainly an interesting attempt in the right direction but going a bit off the track.
Ignoring DIY and judging by the PCB design I would say that it is an example of I would call "over engineering" made of inexpensive parts everywhere.
Furthermore, I consider the PCM1794 to be not in the the same class of PCM56, PCM58 or TDA1541 even if it looks better on paper.
