    I'm Bill.

    Default Spotify with R-Pi

Been using Chromecast Audio for a while now and like the fact that you can stream full blown Spotify. I had been using a R-Pi with Rune Audio some time ago that did enable Spotify but only playlists. Now wondering if any of the operating systems have moved on and now support Spotify including 'search' etc.

There is a linux version of spotify but it's compiled for x86 processors, not the Arm chip on a pi - and because Spotiy is closed source we can't just recompile it

I've not tried, but it should be possible to run the windows version using WINE. Just install a desktop on something like Diet Pi, add WINE and install the Windows version from the web.

It's also possible to set your Pi up as an Airplay/DNLA receiver and continue as you are now. (assuming you're using a laptop or something to stream from)
