Now that Rangers are back in the top flight this might change in a few seasons, and you might get back to the qualification position that existed previously https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010%E...ampions_League

If Rangers had been in the English league they'd have been fined and docked 10 points.
In Scotland the powers that be got all holier than thou, and that was not deemed to be punishment enough.
So every club in the league quite publicly stuck the boot in.

What was that Grant was saying, something about being your own worst enemy?

Like it or not, Celtic need Rangers to be a strong opponent, and vice versa.
And you might get your UEFA rankings back.

In answer to the question, it's the 4th placed team, so this season it's Manchester City that have to play a qualifying round.
It's a pain in the backside, but it has to be done.
It's additional games, but it's early enough in the season for it not to cause problems - it might even be additional game time that's needed.
its happened b4 but when rangers were to play eufa final, i think, they were forced to play several games before as other clubs and fa didnt want them to get a break. The fact that it would help them and the countries footy was no interest to them. Just one instance, but will be plenty on various sides I'm sure.
As I said earlier the bigotry in this country(and I am not even touching religious stuff ) is such that other clubs would rather lose money than help some clubs, and the fans are worse...lol
Until this little island attitude is got rid of, we will always be small time. England doesn’t want both old firm as they are trouble. They may take Celtic if there was no Rangers, although I doubt it. Rangers fans(a minority , but are always joined by a load of Chelsea mobsters etc) have themselves to blame as they have caused trouble pretty much everywhere at some time. Wasn't always there fault by any means, but never the less the club gets smeared. Memories are long and Rangers would not be wanted. Celtic are not as big a draw as make the English want to change anything, plus the English game is doing very well without them.
The answer is for people to put their dislikes away and start being a country of neighbours and friends overall. Have the competitive desires, but leave it at the sport doors.....alas there is more chance of me becoming Queen

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
