    Gettin back on audio...

I got a sharp tape player in a bunch of stuff they were dumping from the local auction house.. Still had a handfull of tapes kicking around so i put on Queen to see if it works...

Cant belive how much I liked the sound.....But it does make sence, I was born in 1976.. all my own music from about 85-86 up to well into the late 1990s was tape based, most of the weight in my collage bags were tapes, batterys and a walkman

So maybe I have a learned biased preferance to that kind of sound?
Is there a cognative programing effect that leads to a certain preferance of sound? One for the phillosophers that one.

I have managed to pick of a few unopened blank tapes recently, going to record some Flac thought my Musical fidelity Dac into the tape deck, just to see what it sounds like.

Interesting journey this audio malarkey.... John.

People have this 'It must be a 3 Head cassette deck or nothing' firmly grafted into their brains for some reason. I have heard & owned a lot of fine sounding 2 Headers but o no they wont have it, i often wonder if these people even listern to them!!

I was being sarcastic; maybe I should have added "not" or a . It's a blend cobbled together by a marketing focus group to produce something that will sell cheaply, but is wanting in the taste department. Just like 'Golden Delicious' apples - nice uniform, 'attractive' looking apples, that have no taste to them.

Not if you eat them in France, almost direct from the tree! What you know as "Golden Delicious' apples here are but a pale imitation of their true selves.

The quality of the majority of fruit in this country, bought from supermarkets, is abysmal....

I had a feeling you were being sarcastic, but it was worth pointing out anyway for the uninitiated amongst us

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
