That and usually the signal goes through balanced to unbalanced converter (even if it is unbalanced) made with crap op amps and in many amps will also go through things like limiter/anti-clip circuitry also with naff op amps. Horses for courses though, they're built to go bloody loud with decent sound not amazing sound at domestic volumes. I had a sales leaflet from a supplier the other day with a 19" rack mount amp, 60WPC into 4 Ohm, a years warranty.... £36.89
I could just about buy the mains transformer for that price....
