Weird thing was after running in for 4 weeks the overhang stylus position had shifted. I have a very accurate metal cartridge protractor that comes with the VPI Turntable and the stylus tip had moved even though I had not adjusted VTA or weight since setting up.

Is this due to change in cartridge suspension ?

    Default Ortofon Cadenza Black MC

A potential no brainer bargain here for someone and a chance to taste a top notch Black at potentially daft money - £1850 new.

Could go another 1000 hrs plus if he's looked after it which I suspect he has http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ortofon-Ca...kAAOSwjvJZQZHW

Do you know Jamie, I have not even heard my Cadenza B yet.
My system has been down for the past year and it has hurt badly

The good new is it's been due to upgrades as in re-cap of my completely rebuilt Sansui AU 919 integrated amp, and paying down on a Paul Hynes SR7 psu plus his triple stage regs which is all done now.

I drive up to Norfolk on Friday for install of the regs and to collect the power supply
On top of that my tonearm has been re-wired and has new hybrid ceramic bearings fitted.
I havnt heard my system with the Cadenza B, recapped amp, tonearm re-wire, regs, psu etc so I'm in for a bit of a shock when I fire her up soon, not to mention some serious evaluation / critical listening .

Forgive me for the diversion and back to your question

Having had both the other two Shibata clad Ortofons, I'm can only expect that the Cadenza Black will be a class act of the highest order.

I've read detailed, dynamic, refined, airy, as expected but even more insight into the individual parts ie: finger plucks, differentiation of instruments, tone, texture etc.
I can not wait to get mine going.

It's a high end cart - one editor review here probably sums it up https://www.henleydesigns.co.uk/ui/p...?ProductID=641

Understatement of the year Jamie with respect. The journey has been long as I am certainly not flush so I've been building to where I want to get to for many years,
BUT gosh! the last year has been agony - such a long down time but it's literally the last hurdle - mission accomplished, destination arrival
I have next Thursday and Friday off too to really get some time with her, set up, music everything I can to nail that sweet-spot and get her optimum - Did I say I cant wait I've earned this moment and will feedback in due course

Be prepared for some frustration on setting the cart up. Once it's done just leave alone and play!
