    Default Hello from China

Hello there. My name is Chen Ke, and I live in Xi'an now, which was capital of 13 dynasties of China.

I'm a student in university, so have not a complete system.Usually I use my TF10 earphones, but I just bought a Technics sl1200 with a Shure M44 cartrige, well that's it.

Finally I put up a photo of Xi'an.

Welcome Chen, hope you will be happy here. I visited Xian five years ago with my daughter and son in law who live in Beijing. We saw the terracotta warriors and found it very moving. Wonderful place. I can't remember the name of the street where there are many restaurants and we tried food in several, I suffered on the train journey back to Beijing next day.

Oh I think that's Huimin Street which means Muslim Quarter. Now there is a HSR between Beijing and Xi'an, only need 4 hours.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

    Hi Chen,

I visited Xi'an nearly thirty years ago, so I expect it has changed quite bit since then. Owing to the internal flight back to Peking being brought forward six hours (unheard of then!), I wasn't able to visit the Wild Goose pagoda, which was a shame.

    Enjoy the Forum
