Interesting though; I've been supporting my records in a similar way for 15 years or so.

I thought the pointof the video was that there's no platter; I've not used a turntable for 25 years, but I always thought that a solid support for the disc was necessary. If you've been doing it for 15 years maybe you know something I don't.....

Meitner did it 30 years ago . No, you don't need a solid support under the record at all. My deck looks like it has a normal platter but it's not there to support the record and actually doesn't touch it at all.
