The Sainsbury by me has never had any vinyl. Even the CD and DVD section has now been reduced in size so they could fit the in-store Argos branch in.

What always amuses me with these things is how they determine what age the respective fathers will be, in terms of predicting the type of music offered for sale?
For example, my dad's 85, so he'd be more interested in Nat King Cole, than the Eagles, and at the other end of the scale, if your dad's 25, he's more going to be interested in something like the Arctic Monkeys...
So how do they decide which age demographic of fathers to pitch to?

I doubt there is any sentiment behind Sainsburys selling vinyl, it will all be about shifting stuff quickly and making some money and maybe getting a few new punters through the door. I doubt there will ever be a big selection. I think I read they believe they are now the biggest high street (well bricks and mortar at least) retailer of vinyl. I do think it interesting though that they are doing some exclusives, not necessarily just coloured vinyl,it's not my cup of tea but I think their vinyl release of Kylie Minogue's Light years may be the only vinyl release of that album.

I'm just amused/interested in how they determine the age group of the fathers being targeted, and what criteria is used.....
Now, if my dad had a turntable I might be tempted to buy him a couple of Nat King Cole or Frank Sinatra albums, but not what's being currently sold, supposedly of interest to the fathers chosen.
