    Add to the list ?

various upgrades for Quad amps, notably for the 306. One source I know and have used is http://dadaelectronics.eu/shop/quad-upgrade-kits = very good V and gives you a fresh amp

May I just say it's very good of you putting this together Andy as I know it can't be easy with so many potential items wishing to be listed.

Should help anyone wanting to build a system take a short cut to tried, tested and proven products without all the uncertainty of whether they are any good or not.

I think what James meant was:
.... to build a system by using a short cut to tried, tested and proven products ......

if this is going to happen might I suggest the list be titled 'Worthy of Consideration' rather than 'marks out of ten' or 'this is the best in class' since there will never be universal agreement on anything so it is best to avoid absolutes.

'Worthy of Consideration' meaning if you are in the market for one this is worth taking the time for a demo, and nothing more.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

I refer my learned friend to post #55 on page http://theartofsound.net/forum/showt...a-sticky/page6 where that suggestion has already been put forward.

    Then we are in agreement

We surely don't want some idiotic 5 star rating system like What (sic) Hi Fi. I've always thought trying to catagorise audio equipment like that was idiotic, although I suppose it does help out the hard of thinking.

Yes, that's better, and it is indeed the WHOLE POINT of this thread.
