I think the Pi can be a bit system dependant tbh, to fulfil its potential. I have heard mine in different systems and its sounded different each time. There are also a lot of programs and differing settings that can make or break it

You wouldn't believe the sound I'm getting playing stuff from my Google library of uploaded tracks and Spotify connect.

After all the fuss people made about Raspberry Pi and the fact people will happily spend £000s more on bloody cables, I'm frankly amazed that so few here have even tried a Chromecast Audio. Simple set up, easy control, great sound.

At this point my FLAC library looks redundant.
There must have been something wrong with your source in the fist place if the CA streamer sounds that good especially while controlling the volume from a phone anyways, Hans says its not worth it.

Are you on a wind up? Something wrong in the system? Get a grip on yourself man. We're talking about a 15 quid dongle thing here.... The point is it sounds excellent through a pair of very honest amps and my speakers.

Now go take your backhanded banter and chase yerself.

Anyway, these were just initial comments of it using a cheap cable in a 2 minute lash up.

I'm away for a few days with work but for my next trick I'll connect it to a Benchmark DAC, which takes no prisoners with a sloppy source, and we'll see what's what. I just need to find my mini toslink adapter.

Could do Brian. How well it would work of course would depend upon there being decent WiFi at the venue.
