    to the O.P.,
Panos, I've just read through your thread about the pilgrimage regarding your not-so-happy experiences so far with your new Croft set-up, and no one seems to have advised you to swap the polarity of your speaker cables at the amp end> TMBK and IME Croft amps tend to invert phase - and all you've said about the treble (and other, related) stuff sounds exactly as when the speakers are connected the wrong way, i.e. with inverted phase, to the amp. how about giving it a go, I wonder, man?

Thanks for the advice, Attila. Yes, I am aware the Croft amps do tend to invert polarity. But both the preamp and the power amps invert polarity, so at the end, polarity is correct again (the two inversions cancel themselves out).
TBoMK, phase inversion is expressed as reduced bass and perhaps no so clear focus, usually not as treble roll-off. My problem was not bass or anything else, just treble roll-off.

    Thanks anyway.

with your response taken duly I wonder if you've tried to swap the speakers' polarity at the amp end, Panos? sometimes magic happens against well-established 'knowledge' (or summat)...

As a matter of fact, I have not tried to reverse the polarity of the speakers. I will do that next week (because these days I am not where the system is) and I will report back any findings. It's an easy test and there is nothing to hurt. Thanks for the advice.
