    Default One Weak Channel

I recently bought a Marantz 1060 from a vintage stereo dealer. He assured me the unit was in perfect condition and had a good reputation so I generally trust that I have a good amp. HOWEVER, I have run into a problem that I could use some help trouble shooting. When I plug my turntable into the phono line, one channel comes through clear and loud and the other comes through very weak. If I turn my table's preamp on and run it through the AUX or TAPE line, both channels come through clear as a bell. I would like to use the phono on the Marantz and cannot figure out what is causing this problem. Anyone know what might be causing this?

Sounds like a problem with the amp's phono stage. Old gear like that have discrete phono stages so a single component could have gone down in it, meaning it might be a cheap repair component-wise but you'd have to fault-find first and that can be expensive. Obviously not in full working order as you were promised so you are due a refund, or if you want to keep it a partial refund to cover cost of repair.

Thank's Martin - I ended up trouble shooting online a bit longer and found similar issues with others related to the antiskate. I just needed to turn up the dial a little bit more and now it comes through beautifully.

If that is the case. It may benefit to use a little more tracking downforce as well.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!
