    Default Grado F2

Today I received my Grado F2 cartridge with a bent cantilever which came as a bonus when buying my Shure M55EM.
I straightened out the cantilever slightly, and tried it on some older vinyl. I noticed that the LH channel was slightly quieter than the RH.
My question is if this is likely to be purely the bent cantilever, or if there is a problem with the coils?

Can anybody offer some advice? It's the first time I have ever had a bent cantilever.

Probably a problem with azimuth - the cantilever might be straight, but in straightening it you may have twisted it slightly. Try adjusting the azimuth in arm.

Don't play your precious records with it. It might be chiselling it's own path through the vinyl.

I only played about 5 seconds of music, just to check.
I take it that there is no real issue in buying a new stylus?

If there is some output on both channels, the cartridge is likely to be OK. I have come across one or two Grados completely dead on one channel.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

There is life in both channels, so I will have a look for a stylus.

    Thanks gents.

Found a "Gold 1" stylus for a good price, so may well go for it.
