Yes its the LS36.5 pre. Still in testing with the DAC but beats my Nagra NAC.

Interesting piece of kit. A friend of another parish uses one and swears by it! Says the software updates improves audio also...
What kind of DAC in there?

Ahem... Answering my own question here, there is no "DAC" as this is one of few digital converters based on FPGA's, Field Programmable Gate Array. That explains why audible improvements may come with software changes too!
And it has a really nice USB reciever chip in the form of an XMOS type. Really in another league to these ears.

Have you compared this DAC to any other ones in your setup?

I had the original Nagra DAC before. Nagra have been doing digital since the 1950s but the technology here is a bit outdated. Used an Anologue Technologies DSP and digital inputs were up sampled to 24/192. Before the Nagra DAC had the Audio Synthesis Decade and Discrete.

The Meitner brings a lot more to the party. Dynamics and pure unrestrained treble. DSD is through the USB input. S you say Meitner use an in house digital conversion solution.

    Regards

I find most digital either clean, clear and dull or in your face trying to impress with detail. The Meitner is the neither; it's the best DAC I've owned by a considerable margin.
