    Default Vintage Decks...

Picked up these vintage decks on 'that auction site'.
Intending to play my collection of [ex-jukebox & pub DJ] 45's from the 60's & early 70's.
Sound is pretty cr*p...but they are fabulous to look at.
No idea of a brand name...but has to be one of the first sets of portable DJ decks ever.

BSR C141s or similar by the looks of it, and it appears someone has bodged Goldring G800s into their headshells.

I hate to be the voice of doom but they weren't designed to use an MM cartridge like this and I suspect they'll only track properly if the tracking weight is dialled up to silly levels. You'll probably get through stylii (or records!) at a fair rate, unfortunately.

No way could a couple of those BSRs stand up to serious DJ use. They were nasty horribly flimsy things.

I reckon that rig was either a DIY job or a commercial failure.

The are really cr@ppy to be fair.

But I only got them to play some vintage 45's that came out of the jukebox and DJ table in my dad's pub back in the 60's & 70's.

The 45's are pretty messed up...but through my PA set up you get a lovely lo-fi sound...that really works in a crowd of ska/northern soul aficionados.

On the plus side...The light in the middle works.
