    Default Present System

Here are two shots of my present system.
Top Deck is the tape decks and Tuner, then going down the turntable, amplifier and cassette deck underneath, next to it all is one the recently purchased TDL RTL4 speakers which I recovered as I have an aversion to black ash.
The Toshiba reel to reel is a quiet hero I have had Sony 377s and Akai 4000 machines `it not only sounds aswell if not slightly better than those machines it has a useful feature they do not have, and that is adjustable bias pre-sets and internal oscillator to help you set it up with the use of the VU meters.

I am very happy with the sound of this system, large scale sound with a big soundstage and very deep bass, excellent separation between instruments. I am going to adjust the cross overs on the speakers a little but that's all

The speakers look good. Well worth the effort you put it recovering them. That's a lovely vintage Sony system you have there. The amp looks like a TA-8650 vfet. Pretty hard to find I would have thought. What is the turntable?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

    Thanks for your comments chaps

The turntable is a Technics SL-110 that has been modified electrically and mechanically, The Sony TA-8650 has been totally rebuilt, I bought it about 12 years ago not working (no surprise there) both the V-fet power amps were blown, it would have been far too expensive to have repaired them, so I bought some Australian designed MOS-Fet power amps and fitted them along with a load of other mods over the following years.
