Nice to see someone well known for his solid state designs, dabbling in tubes!
At the end of the day, they are just another device to choose from to achieve your aims.

Well my first review in 1968 was a tube I made with EL34 in push-pull, with a ECC83 driver and I also used a Selenium Rectifier. My Grandad helped me to make it.
I also made a SECA with a single 250TH with 5V at 20A heater and a HT of 1500VDC wicked evil beast I had few shocks of that monster. I tried to buy a Mercury Arc Rectifier but my dad would not let me at 15yrs old, I wondered why at the time, but not now.
