An old machine that I put together using new parts about 2007, now sometimes gets a corrupted BIOS and won't start, resetting the BIOS seems to work - for a while.

I reset all bios defaults the other day, while I was removing the 'case opened' warning in bios after defluffing the processor heatsink.

Resetting the defaults won't do it on my machine, need to use jumper to reset.

Strange. PC is behaving perfectly now. I think the glitches must have been from a Windows update error that they have put right.

Google have revamped their 'Google News' page. I don't like it. It now takes longer to scroll through and the content is less easy to home in on. Why is there this incessant need to 'improve' things constantly.

    https://www.blog.google/topics/journ...news-everyone/

They even show the old layout in comparison to the new here and call it improved. Not for me it isn't. When I first saw it, I thought the page was not loading properly.

ebay do the same. You get used to the layout and function and then they change stuff, not usually for the better.

It generally seems to be for steering various marketing ploys towards the viewer.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

It's a handy compilation of reports from numerous news sources. If you use the chevron to expand each news report, it lists other related items from different sources. It's certainly more comprehensive than going to the ITV News or BBC News websites.

The BBC News homepage is a real hodgepodge mess, with stuff scattered about all over: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news.

Looks like Photobucket are holding users to ransom!

The risk of sudden of withdrawal of a free internet service is always a possiibility.

I wonder, is there an other way to post photos than using a hosting service?
