    Nicely done. I wouldn't have thought IKEA, looks like it was meant for hi-fi in the first place.

    I too have replaced a glass rack with an IKEA furniture


    Like you, I have also experienced an improvement in sound: The bass got more tight and a slight "boom" in the bass was gone and it's more centered than before where it was kind of "all over the place" at heavy basslines. I suspect it's the bigger surface of furniture opposite the flimsy open glass rack.
    The TV was on a tripod like this

    So I went from an open arrangement to one that covers more of the backwall. I changed it because we wanted a nicer solution and hide all the cables. But the better sound was an unexpected bonus. Mine cost 1000 danish kr. about 134 euro. Quite cheap too compared to furnitures dedicated to hi-fi. Looking at forums, IKEA furnitures have found their way in to at lot of hi-fi homes as hi-fi furniture and for record storage.
