“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

I hope you're not in a flood risk area Justin!

If so, you'd better get some floats for all that tube stuff!

There's some silicon and code in them. When you power on the amps calibrate themselves according to the bias tests that are conducted every time you switch them off. It takes a couple of minutes to turn them off, and they take about the same before listening is allowed.

As per the 211 amps next to them, they are Austrian. So they must be good It's cold there, so they like valve amps I figure.

Despite the 400 Watts, they really didn't sound powerful. Very polite, not particularly dynamic i.e. balls out transient led, refined, and even handed. I keep thinking that. Even handed. The best term there is to describe them.

The 211s, on the other hand - more balls, more excitement, less refinement, faster bass, apparently more extended bass as measured by the dubious earbaiting device, and, well, not even handed. Bass is the name of the race with those.

I'll miss the Ayons a bit. Not that much. But a bit. Good amps. And they should be at the price.

I have the integrated and that sounds similar. Great space around instruments but again polite and detailed.

....nah, I'd suggest 'all fur and no knickers'! Amps for pee-soaked weenie-boys...

Something's defo not right there though, perhaps how the amp is biased (not much output in Class A), traffos not up to the job, or whatever, as they should be blowing your mind!

The four KT150s in the Copper amp, producing 50W Class A, produces a very big and powerful sound, but then that's not with (hard to drive) Apogees... Would be interesting sometime to hear the Copper amp with your speakers, to see whether it falls apart driving them or not.

The amp self-checks and in that respect is more advanced than any valve amp I have ever come across, so it was as it should be. Cyclopse came round and had a listen and will confirm they were OK.

Copper amp - what can it dump as a peek power output? Any idea? Bear in mind I have heard it and I agree it is dynamic - but that was with KT88s IIRC?
