    Geoff and Stewart,

Here are some pics of the machine and heads. The heads and guides were caked in oxide, but they have cleaned up ok. I spent about an hour and a half last night cleaning these. There's a fair bit of head wear, but hopefully they'll last a bit longer. There's always the option of sending the headlock to JRF in the USA for new heads or relapping.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

    Hi Al,

I have had a number of goes at cleaning the ceramic spindle. It was much worse when I started. I will have another go at it in due course. It got very late (about midnight) and my eyes were getting weary.

OK here's a very short video (volume was turned down to minimum as my wife was grappling with her laptop at the time). My A807/II is in the background.

Had a long chat with Stewart (Lodgesound) yesterday. He has very kindly offered to help re-align and calibrate my new beastie. Planning to drive round the M25 next week - fingers crossed

Just back from Stewart's (Lodgesound) home in Surrey, where he kindly realigned and calibrated my APR-5002 and Studer A807/II. It looks like the APR had never been set up properly, but 4 hours later, it's dialled in and ready to go. The A807/II was a breeze by comparison!

It was a real education and we both needed many cups of tea, whilst the cussed APR was brought back into line. It was well worth the petrol, time and the very modest fee, which I agreed to pay Stewart for his time and expertise. Thank you very much indeed.
