“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".
“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”
"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”
“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Interesting the way you have customised the fascias on some, presumably to help with your problematic eyesight, box!
I've got 3 cassette decks, one of which needs a bit of tlc which will hopefully be applied in a week or so.
Nowt wong with the medium, imo, it can sound just fine - in fact it has that 'analog feel' that LP lovers would recognise - and I have a fair bit of music which doesn't seem to be available other than on cassette.
I keep an eye out in charity shops for interesting pre-recorded cassettes.
A few years ago I took a nice Denon 3 head cassette deck to the Scalford Show - there was much sniggering when some folks came into the dem room, but most were surprised and agreed that it sounded perfectly good.
.
It does help with my vision, but also the fact that I'm a Toffee.
I agree with you about the sound, I 'never' use Dulby

Dulby ....
Actually, I've heard that Dolby noise reduction can work fine but it needs to be in perfect adjustment or the frequency extremes drop right off.
I never use it either, even for pre-recorded tapes where it has been used in the recording process - I use tone controls to dial in the right amount of treble drop for each tape. Sounds great then.
.... and what's a Toffee?!?
