The ps1 is compleatly standard, I know there are a ton of mods you can do to these. but my soldering skills are pretty bad so ill probably leave it alone.

Sounds pretty moderate to me . Especially by the standards of some on here (who won't be named ).
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Yes, not too bad now but that is how it starts: creeping up on you. Once you start buying it faster than you can sell it, it soon piles up.

lol yes, I've noticed some ppl change components like I change socks. cant say I blame anyone though, all my stuff has been very cheep so its been fun, I think the only thing that will stay for a long time are my Current speakers. I really like these old Technics sb-3500s. However they are the babys of the range. so if a pair or 4500 or 5000s come up and i have the money...

Not much info about these speakers around although there is a pair identical to mine ending on ebay today.

Nah, it's mostly impractical unless you're spending megabucks when it would be expected. Just make sure you buy at an average or below average price so they can be moved on easily enough. Just make sure they work before you part with cash.

Yes, and slowly you work out what you like and start to move towards something you are totally happy with. With a tail wind I understand it is possible to manage it before you retire.

But if you get happy with your system what do you do then? gardeing? lol

No seriously though , there's so much stuff I havent heard at all, all the speakers i've heard are Reflex. No horns or Open baffles or T line. Theres so much to hear Maybe that why its such fun.

    Hi John,

    Welcome to the forum

I like you're open-minded approach to system-building (and hi-fi), which appears to be free from the usual 'baggage' audiophiles seem to carry around with them. Nice one. I shall follow your journey with interest.

Keep it up and enjoy the music
