    DAW - iMac 21"
Audio Interface - Roland Quad Capture 24 bit / 192khz
    Integrated Amp - Marantz PM6005
Speakers - KEF Q300 Bookshelf + Pixel T50 Stands + Atacama Gel Pads
Cables - Powermax Amp lead, Chord Odyssey + Chord Epic (biwired), Atlas Element Integra Interconnects
Shelving Unit - Norstone Bergen 2 (Glass)

    Hi Mike. Welcome to AOS.

Don't worry about your system, it looks OK to me. Anyway, everything and everyone are welcome here. There are members with seriously upmarket gear, but most of us run almost anything and whatever we choose or like.

Tell us what music you play and about any system changes you may have in mind.

    Enjoy the forum,
    Geoff.

A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Thanks for the warm welcome, gents. Yes the Bergen is a pain to move around, but a fantastic unit!

I'm on the eve of installing some further TT upgrades. I have a Gram Amp Communicator Phono stage I forgot to mention but that is being replaced by a Trichord Dino. The Denon cart is being replaced by an Audio Technica AT150MLX and an ADC LMG-1 headshell. And a KAB Damper unit is on it's way to me. Should all be up in the coming week!

I mainly listen to vinyl as you could probably tell. I chose the Marantz gear because of the flexibility (the amp has Digital & Optical inputs) and multi-player capabilities. The next step up would be an Oppo and perhaps a Naim amp, but I'm not there yet. Perhaps in the future. I would like a bit more muscle and heft out of my system. I'm a bass player in a heavy rock band so am probably harder to please with a basic system. It doesn't give me anywhere near the impact that playing through amps does. Perhaps a quality set of headphones would fill the void somewhat, albeit with a different effect.

I listen to a variety of genres; jazz, funk, folk, latin / world, some hiphop but mainly rock, punk and metal. The latter styles not really being in the audiophile arena generally of course, but I try not to get too distracted by production values (though my bandmates would say otherwise). Like most 90s youth I grew up listening to tapes and CDs (when I could afford them) on a cheap mini hifi and marvelled at my neighbour's parents' separates system. Still envying those floodstanders though!

    Cheers

    Mike

    Hello Mike, welcome to AoS.

Yes a neat system and nothing wrong with it. If you want more 'heft', and since you play bass in a heavy rock band, I think you are going to need some floor standing speakers, or at least stand mounted speakers with larger drivers.

Anyway, keep us informed of any updates to your system, and if you have any questions just ask away; we have many knowledgable members here to help you.

    Enjoy the Forum
